I have been regularly painting since retiring and previously was Head of Design at a local secondary school. Thankfully in this area we are blessed with excellent artists who run courses, many of which I have attended. I was a regular attendee at Peter Threlfell’s watercolour “experiences” and also have been to several of Kate Bentley’s workshops. Both are very different in style and approach but I have learnt so much from both of them.

During “lockdown” I was kept quite busy on commissions of house and pet portraits . Being keen to make use of materials which ended up being recycled or thrown away I turned my hand to making models out of wine bottles and papier-mache as well as an assortment of other discarded bottle tops and wire.

I was also approached by Cartmel Village Society to produce a map of the village which was a welcome challenge.

In the last couple of years I have “touched base” with my town of Birth- Keighley and as well as exhibiting my work, I have also produced calendars and cards for local charities.
