Can you please remember to book yourself into to do the monthly workshop, even if it’s the day before. Most of the Artists/Tutors like to know approximate numbers so they can prepare and bring the right amount of equipment etc.

Our next morning session from 10 – 1pm on Wednesday 11th June is with Rita Denby who has kindly offered to do the workshop that Gwen was scheduled to provide Gwen will now be away. Can’t do it this time.  So it’s not Summer Houses.

Rita is going to be doing imaginary landscape in her own style which will be great, using mixed media, ie inks, watercolour, acrylic in black, white and one other colour. Either yellow, blue or green. Black and white gel pens and good quality watercolour paper and mounts. Ruler, hairdryer are all useful but if you don’t have them all of these things will be available on the day. See you there

People would need to bring whatever they would normally like to use. Acrylic paint can be used for the watercolour demonstration, but watercolour cannot be used for the rag and credit card project. Colours are a personal choice. Paper should always be of a good quality watercolour standard, thin cartridge paper is always a disappointment. For acrylics, multi media paper, board,  canvas board, canvas and watercolour paper can all be used as you choose. The Works sells cheap and varied types of canvas that are quite acceptable. The cheap sets of lots of colours in acrylic or watercolour are a waste of money. You are better with just a few good quality paints.

Rags should be old sheets or teacloths torn up, an old towel or facecloths that are worn out give you useful rags. Old out of date credit cards, library cards etc are good instead of palette knit for impasto work.
