It was my Australian mother-in-law, Margaret Alexander, who persuaded me that everyone can paint something. She introduced me to the joys of sploshing about boldly with watercolour, when we went on a painting holiday together in France. She has always been my inspiration, and I loved the way she painted.

I particularly enjoy painting landscape, as this gives me an opportunity to observe my surroundings more closely than I otherwise would.

I find the friendships and fun at Cartmel Art Society helps to keep me motivated to try new techniques.
